We want to win the opening game against India – Babar Azam
Pakistan and India will clash on October 24 in the upcoming T20 World Cup. This will be the first T20I between the two countries since the T20 World Cup in 2016. India have defeated Pakistan five times in the T20 World Cup.
Babar Azam, who will be leading Pakistan for the first time in the World Cup, wants to start on a positive note in the UAE. Ahead of the big match, the Pakistan captain spoke about the clash against the Virat Kohli-led team.
“Our morale is high and we want to make a positive start to the tournament by winning the opening game against India. Gaining momentum at the start of the tournament will help in improving the confidence of the team,” Azam was quited as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Babar Azam will open the innings with Rizwan. “I will open the innings with Rizwan during the World Cup but we can change our plans after looking at the conditions.”
He also spoke about the selection of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. “Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik are match-winners and their experience will help us on the field,” he concluded.
