Watch Video – Das, Kumara engage in war of words, separated by teammates

The T20 World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh saw an ugly exchange of words when fast bowler Lahiru Kumara dismissed opener Liton Das for 16. The incident happened in the 6th over of Bangladesh’s innings when Kumara’s pitched-up delivery drew an edge from Liton’s bat and the ball was caught by Dasun Shanaka.

Immediately, the pacer went to the batter and said something to the Bangladeshi player. The player didn’t like the words and started arguing back. The verbal slugfest intensified between the players as several other cricketers from both the teams and the umpires had to separate the two, before Das reached the pavilion.

“That is not what you want to see in a game of cricket,” the commentators said on the broadcasting channel Star Sports.

Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl in the third match of the ICC T20 World Cup.

“We are going to bowl first. Our bowlers are doing a good job for us. After the IPL, the wicket is up-and-down, can’t guess what it is, that’s why we want to bowl,” he said at the toss.
