Watch – Shoaib Malik salutes Shahid Afridi after Pakistan’s win over Afghanistan
Pakistan have almost sealed their spot in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup. After defeating India and New Zealand, Pakistan came on top against Afghanistan. The Men in Green have won three consecutive games and Shoaib Malik was in a good mood after the match.
The 39-year old saluted former all-rounder Shahid Afridi, who was supporting Pakistan from the stands.
Malik, meanwhile, has scored from two matches at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 128.57. He didn’t get a chance to bat against India, the right-handed batter scored an unbeaten on 26 and helped his team go past the Kiwis. He managed 19 runs off 15 balls in the third match against Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Zaheer Khan, the former India pacer lauded Malik for bringing calmness to the Pakistan team.
“Fans often ask why senior players like Shoaib Malik are still playing. They are here for this reason only. They know how to absorb pressure in situations like these. They will not be impatient, and in pressure situations, patience is the most important thing,” Zaheer told Cricbuzz.
“I think Shoaib Malik was a last-minute addition to the squad. He proved the selectors right today,” he added.
