Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram slam match-fixing claims in IND-AFG match
Former Pakistan captains Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram have slammed the trolls for claiming that the India-Afghanistan match was fixed. After two consecutive defeats, India finally won a game in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Virat Kohli-led team defeated Afghanistan by 66 runs. However, while most of the cricket experts and fans lauded the Men in Blue, some users on social media stated that the match was fixed.
Reacting to the viral trend, Wasim Akram said on A Sports, “I don’t know why we like to create such conspiracy theories? India are a very good team. They just had a couple of bad days at the start of the tournament.”
Waqar Younis was also not happy with the allegations. “It’s a pointless thing to say and people should not give it much attention.”
After losing the toss, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stitched a partnership of 140 runs, which took India to 210 for 2 in 20 overs. While Rohit scored 74 runs in 47 balls, Rahul made 69 runs in 48 balls.
