VVS Laxman refuses to replace Rahul Dravid
Former India batter VVS Laxman has refused to take up the role of director for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI approached him for the coveted post. Rahul Dravid, who is the current director of NCA, is expected to leave his post to become Team India’s head coach after the T20 World Cup.
BCCI wants to hand over the responsibility to someone who has served the Indian cricket for a long period of time and hence Laxman was approached. Laxman was one of the best batsmen in the history of Test cricket and played a key role in India’s famous wins. The right-handed batter scored 8781 runs in 134 Test matches and is currently the batting consultant of Bengal and also the mentor for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
According to reports in Sports Tak, the BCCI is looking at other options after Laxman’s refusal.
Meanwhile, Dravid is certain to replace Ravi Shastri after his tenure ends. The former India skipper has worked with the U-19 team, India A squad and national team in the past.
