Former India player and the current head of the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman, has been confirmed as Team India’s head coach for a two-match T20I series in Ireland.
Rahul Dravid, the regular head coach, will be with the Test team in England during the Ireland series. Hence, the BCCI has roped in Laxman to coach the players. The selectors haven’t announced the team yet.
This has been the practice in the past as well. When Ravi Shastri was in England with the main squad, Dravid, the then director of NCA, was given the responsibility of coaching the Men in Blue for the ODIs and T20Is in Sri Lanka.
India will play the rescheduled fifth Test in England along with white-ball matches. The visitors lead 2-1 in the red-ball series.
