Virat Kohli to quit captaincy in shorter formats, Rohit Sharma to lead India – Reports

According to multiple reports, Virat Kohli is likely to step down as the white-ball captain after the T20 World Cup in October-November, paving the way for Rohit Sharma.

Kohli is the skipper of the team across formats but wants to focus on his batting in ODIs and T20Is. He has taken a call to quit the leadership role and will share responsibilities with Rohit, BCCI sources told TOI.

Kohli had discussed with Rohit and the team management about leaving captaincy in shorter formats.

“Virat himself will make the announcement. He is of the view that he needs to concentrate on his batting and go back to becoming what he’s always been — the best batsman in the world,” the TOI report has quoted BCCI sources in this regard.
