Virat Kohli & Devdutt Padikkal script RCB’s first 100-run opening stand against CSK since 2013

Virat Kohli, who will quit the RCB captaincy after the ongoing season, scripted a 111 runs partnership with young Devdutt Padikkal. It was RCB’s only second 100-run opening stand of IPL 2021. Virat was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.

In the powerplay, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored 55 runs to put RCB in a driving seat. Both of them brought up their respective half-centuries after MS Dhoni had put RCB into bat.

Earlier, RCB lost the first game of the second leg. They were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders in a one-sided game. The 100-plus run opening partnership of Virat and Devdutt is the first against CSK since 2013.

Moreover, the 111-run stand is also the highest partnership for any wicket by RCB against CSK.

Virat Kohli has the most fifty-plus scores against the MS Dhoni-led team. With his ninth fifty against CSK, he surpassed Shikhar Dhawan, who has hit eight 50s against the Men in Yellow.
