Venkatesh Iyer is India’s Chris Gayle – Fans salute new sensation of KKR

Venkatesh Iyer, the new boy of Kolkata Knight Riders, has impressed everyone. After his impressive knock in the first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he went one step ahead against the defending champions, Mumbai Indians. He not only scored a fifty but took the match out of Mumbai Indians’ grasp.

His 53 runs came off just 30 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Earlier, he revealed that there is no pressure on him as the head coach Brendon McCullum allows players to play their natural game.

“It is always good to see McCullum, and I am really excited to bat as he’s going to watch. There is no such pressure when he is right behind the nets. He is not a coach that puts a lot of pressure on us. He allows us to be what we are, and play the cricket that gives us maximum satisfaction. So I think that’s good for players like us,” Iyer said in a video posted by KKR on their Twitter handle.

The youngster took the second half of the IPL by storm when he hit an unbeaten 41 off just 27 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in KKR’s previous game.

He was failed by fans for his fifty against the mighty Mumbai Indians.
