Umran Malik has the ability to bowl 150+, hope he is handled properly – Deep Dasgupta

Former Indian cricketer and cricket expert Deep Dasgupta lauded speedster Umran Malik, who made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The 21-year old bowled a delivery above 150 kmph, making him the fastest Indian bowler in IPL 2021. He went wicketless and conceded 27 runs from his four overs. Deep Dasgupta feels he is a special talent. According to him, very few pacers have the ability to bowl above 150 kmph.

Umran, who hails from Kashmir, was widely praised by fans for his deliveries. Dasgupta is hopeful that he would be groomed at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Dasgupta said: “The moment Umran Malik bowled the first over, I was excited to see him bowl another one. This is because he is an exciting talent with world cricket in mind. Very few bowlers have the ability to bowl fast. He has a unique ability and I hope SRH or the NCA academy preserve him properly.”
