Suryakumar Yadav ready to lead India to T20 World Cup trophy in UAE

Suryakumar Yadav was among the runs in the last league match of IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman scored 82 off just 40 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad and now the batsman has shifted his focus to the upcoming T20 World Cup. He wants to win the trophy for his country.

“I am good, as it should be. At the end of the day, the show must go on and you’ve got to keep smiling whatever happens. We had nothing to lose,” said Suryakumar Yadav after the match.

“We had a target; we just kept running behind it. The pitch was good. Happy to be on the winning side.

“The World Cup is a big tournament. We don’t change anything. The process and routine all remain the same. So I’m really looking forward to it,” he added.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma said his side was inconsistent throughout the tournament.

“When you play for a franchise like Mumbai, you are always expected to go out and perform,” the opener said after they bowed out with a victory in Abu Dhabi.

“We have had an on-and-off season this time around,” he said. “We were getting momentum in Delhi and there was a break, that didn’t help the team. It was a collective failure.”
