Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) cricketer Sherfane Rutherford’s father passed away on Thursday (September 23).
He will leave the IPL and will travel back home to be with his family members. The news was confirmed by his IPL franchise.
He was signed as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow who pulled out of the UAE leg at the last moment.
Sunrisers Hyderabad was comprehensively beaten by Delhi Capitals in the first game of the season and Rutherford wasn’t a part of the playing XI.
“The #SRH family conveys its heartfelt condolences to Sherfane Rutherford and his family on the passing away of his father. Sherfane will be leaving the IPL bio-bubble to be with his family in this difficult hour,” SRH tweeted while confirming the news.
He was in good form in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and might have played in the next matches. He has represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL as well.
