Shubman Gill breaks Virat Kohli’s record after a century against New Zealand in the 3rd ODI

The 3rd and final ODI between India and New Zealand is underway at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The Men in Blue, batting first, went all guns blazing at the New Zealand bowlers, as the Indian openers put up a 212 runs stand.

Rohit Sharma ended his century drought and brought up his 30th ODI ton, while in-form Shubman Gill scored his 4th ODI hundred and 3rd in the last four innings, which includes a double hundred.

India have dominated New Zealand in this fifty-over series, as they won the first game by 12 runs, where Gill played a 208 runs innings and sealed the series with an eight-wicket win in the 2nd ODI.

Gill, possibly on course to win the player of the series award for his performance, broke several records with his ton, which includes a major Virat Kohli feat.

Before the match, Kohli held the record for most runs by an Indian in a three-match ODI bilateral series. The former India skipper scored 283 runs against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded series in 2023, where Kohli played a 166 runs knock in the 3rd ODI.

However, Gill has now crossed Kohli’s feat as he has scored 360 runs in three matches. Gill departed for 112 runs off 78 deliveries. Meanwhile, India are 230/2 after 28 overs.
