Shaheen Afridi is worthy successor of famed No. 10 jersey – Shahid Afridi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday (16 September) unveiled their new jersey for the one-day international series against New Zealand. The governing body of Pakistan cricket shared the pictures of Babar Azam, Mohammed Rizwan, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi donning the new jerseys. Shaheen shared a picture of his jersey on Twitter and it had the famed number 10.

Former Pakistan skipper and one of the most followed cricketers, Shahid Afridi, donned the No. 10 jersey for more than 15 years.

Shaheen, who is all set to tie the knot with Afridi’s daughter, would like to carry forward the legacy of Afridi in international cricket.

“This is more than a shirt number. It represents honesty, integrity and immense love for Pakistan. I am humbled and honoured that I will be now representing Pakistan in shirt # 10 of Lala @SAfridiOfficial. Nothing but Pakistan. #Legacy #TheEagle #PakistanZindabad,” he wrote.

Shahid congratulated him and wrote that he is truly a worthy successor of the iconic jersey.

“I wore this shirt with great honour and pride, I’m delighted that the #10 shirt will now be worn by Shaheen, who is a truly worthy successor! Shaheen, I wish you the very best, continue to rise and wear 🇵🇰 colours with the greatest pride,” he wrote.
