Sachin Tendulkar stashed wealth in secret offshore accounts – Pandora Papers

In a major newsbreak, India cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has been named by Pandora Papers regarding his financial dealings. The former India skipper has been listed as a ‘Beneficial Owner’ of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), which is an offshore entity.

“People linked by the secret documents to offshore assets include India’s cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar, pop music diva Shakira, supermodel Claudia Schiffer and an Italian mobster known as ‘Lell the Fat One’,” stated the report in The Indian Express.

However, the attorney of Tendulkar has categorically denied any wrongdoing on part of the player. According to him, Sachin’s investments are legitimate in nature and have been declared to the authorities. “Mr Tendulkar’s attorney said the cricket player’s investment is legitimate and has been declared to tax authorities,” added the report.

Sachin, who is also known as God of Cricket, is a proud holder of many records in international cricket. He is the highest run-scorer in both Tests (15921) as well as ODI cricket (18426) and is the only batsman in history to hit 100 international centuries.

The master batter retired from international cricket in 2013 and was also conferred with the Bharat Ratna’ award in 2014, India’s highest civilian honour.
