Running after England players is letting Rajasthan Royals down – Sanjay Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Rajasthan Royals’ dependence on England players has let them down in the Indian Premier League. The Sanju Samson-led team has just four wins from nine games and are placed 6th in the points table.
Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler are not playing in the ongoing edition. While Jofra is recovering from his surgery, Stokes has taken an indefinite break from cricket to take care of his mental health. Buttler pulled out of the tournament to be with his family.
“Rajasthan, a franchise that frustrates me. A franchise that I know the people who run. But somehow, their inclination to go for the English players is letting them down a little bit. Because they have become very uncertain with their availability,” Sanjay Manjrekar said in a video on his Instagram handle.
Manjrekar also questioned Rajasthan’s fondness for Riyan Parag, who has failed in the IPL.
“Their problem is more with the middle-order. One wonders what the logic is of keeping on playing Riyan Parag. Is there something in him that we haven’t seen? Because they have condoned his long-term failures.”
