Rashid Khan shares a message for his countrymen after thumping win over Scotland
Offspinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman and legspinner Rashid Khan bowled Scotland for 60 as Afghanistan started the T20 World Cup with a massive 130-run victory on Monday.
Mujeeb claimed three wickets in an over to finish with 5-20 while Rashid (4-9) ran through the tail quickly to dismiss Scotland in just 10.2 overs and raise Afghanistan’s biggest win in a T20.
Afghanistan had earlier posted a daunting total of 190-5 in its opening Group 2 match after skipper Mohammad Nabi won the toss and elected to bat.
All of Afghanistan’s top-order batsmen were amongst the runs and hit big sixes with Najibullah Zadran leading the way by scoring 59 off 34 balls.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (46) smashed four sixes while opening batsman Hazratullah Zazai (44) hit three sixes and three fours to set the tone for a big total.
Afghanistan’s premier spinner Rashid Khan wrote an emotional message for his countrymen. The 23-year old added that Afghanistan’s win was due to the support and the payers of his countrymen.
“Great start congratulations to Everyone and especially to the people back home. I hope this win have given you something to smile and celebrate. INSHALLAH, We will do our best and make the country and nation more proud. Your prayers and support is always the key,” tweeted Rashid Khan.

He has taken 99 wickets in 52 T20I matches at an average of 12.21 and a strike rate of 11.84. Rashid has also added 2 five-wicket hauls to his name in the shortest format as well.
