Rahul Gandhi reacts to reports of Virat facing threat for backing Shami, says forgive these hatemongers

Former Congress President and the Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi has reacted to reports of Virat Kohli getting threats for backing Mohammed Shami after his below-par performance against Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Shami’s religion was questioned after India’s defeat against Pakistan. Backing his player, Virat had slammed the hatemongers for their communal agenda.

After Virat’s statement in favour of his bowlers, the trolls went after the Indian skipper and even threatened him on social media.

“These people are filled with hate because nobody gives them any love. Forgive them. Protect the team,” wrote Rahul Gandhi.

The critics of Virat have stooped down to all-time when they gave rape threats to his 10-month old daughter. Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq reacted angrily when he heard about the verbal attack on Virat Kohli’s family.

“I heard that threats are being given to Virat Kohli’s daughter. People need to understand it’s just a sport, we might be playing for different countries but we are a part of the same community. You have every right to criticise Kohli’s batting or his captaincy but nobody has the right to target a cricketer’s family. A few days back, something similar happened with Mohammed Shami. Victory and loss is a part of the game. I was deeply hurt to see people attacking Kohli’s family,” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
