Please respect your stars – Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan wants Indian fans to respect Mohammed Shami
Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan, who scored an unbeaten 79 against India in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup, has urged Indian fans to respect national cricketers. He took to Twitter to support Mohammed Shami, who was abused by fans after his ordinary bowling performance against the Men in Green. He is the first Pakistan player to speak in favour of the rival bowler.
“The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is [email protected] is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world please respect your stars. This game should bring people together & not divide ’em #Shami #PAKvIND,” he wrote.

Earlier, current and former Indian cricketers rallied behind Shami and slammed the online trolls, who questioned his performance and targeted him for being a Muslim. Shami conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs in India’s 10-wicket defeat vs Pakistan.
