MS Dhoni hints at retirement after leading CSK to playoffs

MS Dhoni wants to play his last IPL game in Chennai. The veteran of the game has promised fans that they will be able to see him playing the last game for the franchise having announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, without turning up for India after the World Cup in 2019.

The most successful Indian captain has continued to represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the cash-rich league. After failing to lead his IPL franchise to playoffs in 2020, the three-time champions have made a sensational comeback and are second in the points table in the ongoing edition of the league in the UAE.

MS Dhoni has not played in Chennai since IPL 2019 as the following edition was moved to the UAE. Even in the first leg of the IPL 2021, CSK didn’t play in Chennai. The remaining matches are being played in the UAE due to the COVID-19 condition in India.

“When it comes to farewell, you can still come and see play me for CSK and that can be my farewell game. So, you will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we will come to see Chennai and play my last game over there and we can meet fans there,” Dhoni said while interacting with fans during the 75th year celebrations of India Cements on Tuesday.
