Mohammad Rizwan breaks Chris Gayle’s world record in T20s
Mohammad Rizwan on Sunday broke the world record for the most runs in a calendar year in T20 cricket during Pakistan’s match with Scotland in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
The right-handed batter went past Chris Gayle’s tally of 1665 runs in the shortest format.
Rizwan was five runs short before the match against Scotland to surpass Gayle which he achieved in the second over of the innings.
Gayle had reached the landmark in 2015. Virat Kohli (1614 runs in 2016), Babar Azam (1607 runs in 2019) and AB de Villiers (1580 runs in 2019) complete the top 5 batters in the list of most runs in a calendar year.
The 29-year old has scored more than 960 runs in T20Is in 2021 as well.
