Match against Pakistan will be a tough one in T20 WC – Martin Guptill

The T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to start on October 17 in Oman and the UAE. Teams will be coming up with their best plans and strategies to win the event. In the same light, New Zealand opener Martin Guptill stated that they are expecting a tough clash with Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan will take on the Kiwis in their opening Group 2 match in Sharjah which will take place on October 26. Guptill added that Pakistan will be a tough rival and they will have to play their A-game to tackle the Babar Azam-led team. “They’re a tough opponent and in these conditions, it’s going to be pretty tough again. We’re going to have to be on our A-game and bring it to them and not take a backward step, just like every other game that we play,” said Martin Guptill as quoted by Stuff.

Earlier, New Zealand left Pakistan without playing any match due to security concerns. Talking of the same, Guptill said it was disappointing for everybody.

“It was disappointing for everybody involved. We were all really looking forward to playing some cricket and getting a bit of game time before the World Cup and that wasn’t to be. I know Pakistan were really looking forward to having some cricket back in their home country, and we’re all hoping that there is going to be cricket there again soon,” added Guptill.
