KL Rahul to be Team India’s new ODI captain if Rohit Sharma misses South Africa series

India’s current Test vice-captain KL Rahul is enjoying his form with the bat and he continues to impress across formats. In absence of Rohit Sharma, he was appointed Virat Kohli’s deputy. With Rohit being uncertain even for ODI series, it has been reported that Rahul will lead the Men in Blue against the Proteas.

Rohit was ruled out of the Test series due to a hamstring injury and his participation in the upcoming ODIs is also not confirmed. Talking of the 28-year old, he scored a ton on the first day of the opening Test at Centurion.

“It is truly special, every hundred really takes something out of you and gives you joy. There are so many emotions you go through when you score a hundred. You bat for 6-7 hours, those are the kind of innings that stand out and as players, we really cherish these. This is what is expected out of me. Once I got off to a good start, I started enjoying my batting and I did not think too far ahead,” Rahul said in a video posted by BCCI.
