Jasprit Bumrah, Joe Root and Shaheen Afridi nominated for ICC monthly award

Jasprit Bumrah has bowled well in the ongoing Test series between England and India. Acknowledging his efforts against the hosts, ICC has nominated him for the award. Apart from his bowling, he has contributed with the bat as well. He took nine wickets in the first Test match. In India’s epic win at the Lord’s, Bumrah registered a fine all-round performance.

His partnership of 89 runs with Mohammed Shami brought the game in India’s favour. Apart from Bumrah, Joe Root is another contender for the award. The skipper of England has scored centuries in each of the three-Test matches he played against the visitors in August.

Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi is the third player to have been nominated for the award. He took ten wickets in a Test match against West Indies. He joined the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Mohammad Zahid to achieve this landmark.
