Is Shikhar Dhawan’s international career over? Here is what former player said

Former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim believes Shikhar Dhawan has a lot of cricket left in him. The southpaw was not selected for the T20 World Cup and hardly plays Test cricket these days.

However, Saba Karim stated that Shikhar Dhawan is one of the best players in one-day internationals, and he remains an important part of the national squad in this format of the game.

“Shikhar Dhawan is an important part of India’s one-day team. His international career is not over just yet. He still has a lot of life left in him. He is fit and also is motivated.”

Saba Karim revealed the reason behind Dhawan’s absence from the T20 squad. “In T20s, ahead of him, there were options like KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli can open, even Ishan Kishan can open. So Dhawan didn’t get a place. In the coming times, Shikhar Dhawan has to play a really important role, not just for IPL teams but for the Indian team as well,” Saba Karim concluded.
