India to play one Test match in England in 2022 – Report
The England Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI) have agreed to play a Test match during the 2022 summer in England. The move comes after the fifth Test between the two countries was called off due to a Covid-19 outbreak in Team India.
According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, there is no confirmation whether the said Test will be a standalone contest or the fifth Test of the Test series. Earlier, India were ready to play two extra T20Is in England, but the England and Wales Cricket Board wanted a Test match and the two boards have decided to go ahead with one Test match.
While India won the second and fourth Test, England defeated the visitors in the third match of the series.
India were in fine form against the hosts, and the fifth match would have been excited, but the positive cases ruined the excitement of the fans and cricketers.
