In my mind, India have won England series 2-1 – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma has no idea about the status of the fifth and final Test match between India and England in Manchester but the right-handed batter is clear in his mind that the visitors won the Test series 2-1.
The fifth Test was called off after the outbreak of Covid-19 cases in the Indian camp. The BCCI has agreed to play the fifth Test in 2022. Sourav Ganguly said that it will be an extension of this year’s series and not a one-off match that the hosts want.
“I don’t know what’s happening with the last Test match. Whether we are playing a one-off Test (next year), but in my mind, we have won the series 2-1. That’s how I see it,” Rohit said during a press conference on Monday organised by Adidas, which celebrates the ‘Impossible is Nothing’ campaign.
Rohit was in sublime form and his knock of 127 runs at the Oval played a key role in India’s sensational victory. The series in England would go down as one of Rohit’s most remarkable tours, he feels it was still not his best.
“It’s not my best series. I feel my best is yet to come. I utilized the time before the World Test Championship final in Southampton (to figure) what sort of technique and mindset is required. I was pretty happy and would like to take it further,” the Mumbai Indians skipper and India vice-captain added.
