If Dhoni smashes the winning runs in final of IPL 2021, he will play next edition – Steyn

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have done exceptionally well in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Having suffered humiliation in 2020, the franchise led by MS Dhoni has made a remarkable comeback in the cash-rich league. IPL 2022 is going to have a mega auction as two new teams will join the bandwagon. There is a question mark on the availability of MS Dhoni for the next season and many believe he will end his IPL stint after the 14 edition.

He has not lived up to the expectations in the last two seasons. Despite his impressive captaincy in IPL 2021, Dhoni has been found wanting in the batting department. Former Pacer Dale Steyn believes that CSK will retain MSD if he makes himself available for another season.

“He is the boss of Chennai. When you think Chennai, you think MS Dhoni. And you know what? They’ve got a couple of games left and they are already into the finals. But we haven’t seen Dhoni do anything. If he smashes the winning runs in the final, you can guarantee that he will be taking the gloves for Chennai in next year’s IPL,” said Dale Steyn on ESPNCricinfo’s Polite Enquiries when asked if MSD will retain himself for CSK next year.
