Karachi Kings have lost eight consecutive matches in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022. The team led by Babar Azam is reeling at the bottom of the points table after their recent defeat against Multan Sultans. The defeat was marred with a heated argument between the mentor Wasim Akram and Babr near the boundary line.
Many have slammed Babar for his team’s poor performance, but Salman Butt has come out in favor of the skipper.
“I wouldn’t say that. He is also the captain of the national team. If you make MS Dhoni or Ricky Ponting captain of Bangladesh, they won’t win the World Cup. So if you have to bring change, you need to be patient.
“If you don’t have the right balance in franchise cricket, even a captain can’t do much. And Babar got these players a week before the tournament. You don’t have specialists in the squad, so it doesn’t matter how good a planner you are.”
Butt further said that the team is filled with all-rounders, which impacts the performance.
“They don’t have a proper pacer, spinner, and a batsman. If you have 7-8 all-rounders in an 11-member team, you can’t win matches.”
