He sat on dharna and refused to hold World Cup: Viru mocks Morgan after spat with Ashwin

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)’s win against Delhi Capitals (DC) was marred by an unwanted spat between R Ashwin and Eoin Morgan. The two had an argument after R Ashwin and Rishabh Pant took an extra run off the last delivery of the 19th over after the ball ricocheted off the left-handed batsman. It started with Tim Southee giving Ashwin a send-off after dismissing him and when the off-spinner gave it back, Eoin Morgan got involved.

Dinesh Karthik was the one who controlled the agitated Ashwin who was walking towards the KKR skipper to have a discussion.

“Rahul Tripathi threw the ball, it hit Rishabh Pant and then ricocheted. And Ashwin called for it and they started to run. I don’t think Morgan appreciates that. I think he’s somebody who, when the ball hits the batsman or the bat, he expects them not to run in the spirit of cricket,” Karthik had said after the match.

However, Virender Sehwag has trolled Morgan for his spat with Ashwin and reminded him about the ball ricocheting off Ben Stokes’ bat in the World Cup 2019 final which went for four in the final over and played a part in England’s win against New Zealand.

“On July 14th, 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale,” he wrote in his tweet.
