Gambhir disagrees with Shastri, says Virat-led team left legacy in Test but not in shorter formats
Former cricketer and two-time world champion, Gautam Gambhir, has refused to accept Ravi Shastri’s statement on the legacy of the current team across formats. Actually, the departing head coach was asked about the performance of the team under his tenure.
Replying to the question, the former player lauded the players for their performance against the strong teams. Shastri also talked about the legacy of the team in Test matches, ODIs and T20Is.
“We defeated Australia in Australia and won everywhere in shorter formats. This team has left its mark in all the formats of the game,” he said.
Gautam didn’t like the statement made by the head coach and questioned India’s performance in ODIs and T20Is.
“The current bunch of players achieved a lot in red-ball cricket but they were below-par in shorter formats on many occasions. I completely agree with the legacy part in Test cricket but not in other forms of the game,” he said.
India is currently playing against Namibia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
