Fans of Afghanistan and Pakistan create chaos at the Dubai International stadium
The fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan had clashed during their team’s World Cup clash in 2019 and the same kind of behaviour was repeated again during last night’s T20 World Cup match between both countries. The ICC has asked the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to look into the issues after thousands of ticketless fans tried to enter the Dubai stadium.
More than 16,000 tickets were issued for the game but a lot of ticketless fans came to the stadium and attempted a forced entry.
“For the Afghan fans, please buy a ticket and come to the stadium. Don’t repeat this again. This is not good,” said Nabi after his team had lost by five wickets.
Dubai Police personnel secured the stadium and even added more officials to bring the situation under control.
The ICC has asked the ECB to undertake a thorough investigation and all the concerned parties of the event have apologised to any fans with valid tickets who were unable to enter the stadium tonight
