Dale Steyn wants to become Team India’s bowling coach

Former South African speedster Dale Steyn has expressed the desire to work for the Indian team as a bowling coach. The 38-year old was one of the best pacers of his time and was known for his match-winning spells across formats. The current support staff of the Indian team would undergo a change after the T20 World Cup in the UAE. India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun will not get an extension as per reports.

Steyn wants the role and even expressed his desire while reacting to an Instagram post from ESPNcricinfo. The post read: “If you are on the phone with MS Dhoni, what would you tell him?’ Responding to this Steyn commented: “Sign me up as bowling coach (eye-wink emoji) haha.” Steyn is a popular figure in India and shares a good bond with several Indian players.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Paras Mhambrey has reportedly been appointed as India’s bowling coach while Rahul Dravid is set to become India’s new coach after the end of Ravi Shastri’s tenure. However, there is no official confirmation behind this development. India will start their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on October 24.
