Chahal takes a dig at selectors for not including him in T20 World Cup squad
It was surprising to see Yuzvendra Chahal’s name missing from the T20 World Cup squad. The leg-break bowler is one of the most successful bowlers in the shortest format of the game. Although he hasn’t been among wickets lately, Chahal was looking in good touch during the Sri Lanka tour.
The selectors named five spinners in India’s 15-man squad. Ravichandran Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Rahul Chahar were selected to handle the spin department. Speaking of Chahal’s exclusion, BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma said spinners who bowl quickly were preferred for the mega event. Replying to a tweet from Aakash Chopra, Chahal took a dig at the selectors.
Chopra, in his post, had suggested spinners who bowl quickly will get success in the UAE. Responding to Chopra’s tweet, Chahal questioned the need for faster spinners. “Faster spinner bhaiya? #justkidding,” he commented
Faster spinner bhaiya? 👀👀🤔#justkidding 🤣

Chahal is India’s highest wicket-taker in the shortest international format, having taken 63 wickets in 49 games.
Chahal had opened up about his omission from the team. “Bad form was playing on my mind a bit, especially after the IPL. I sat down with my wife Dhanashree who helped me. She told me that every day you won’t take wickets, it’s just a bad phase,” Chahal said on Aakash Chopra’s YouTube channel.
“I knew that I was bowling well but sometimes in T20 cricket, it’s very hard to take wickets if a batsman doesn’t attack. It affects you when you don’t have wickets to show in the column,” he added.
