Ben Stokes could miss the T20 World Cup in UAE – Report
England all-rounder Ben Stokes is likely to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE this year. He has taken an indefinite break from cricket to focus on his mental health. He is also unavailable for the second phase of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 which will start from September 19.
Stokes was a part of the first phase of the league in India but he was ruled out due to a finger injury. The tournament was suspended due to the emergence of COVID-19 within the teams. However, IPL 2021 is set to resume in UAE where Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the first game.
As per a report in the Daily Mail, sources close to Stokes have revealed that he is not thinking about cricket at the moment. The report further added that he might not play in the upcoming T20 World Cup this year.
ICC has set next Friday as the deadline for all teams to submit their final squads for the world event which will be played in October this year.
