All my years of IPL captaincy, I never planned for Virat & ABD but Rohit – Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir has revealed that he used to plan for Rohit Sharma during his tenure as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir was never worried about Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers but Rohit gave nightmares to his bowlers.

Rohit has scored more than 1000 runs against the two-time champions, KKR.

“If you see Rohit Sharma, he has gotten heaps of runs against KKR. I have made it very clear as well that in my seven years of captaincy, I never planned against anyone – whether it was Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, or AB de Villiers. All I had to plan in those seven years was against Rohit Sharma,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

Gambhir led KKR between 2011 and 2017, winning the two titles in 2012 and 2014. Gambhir further added that Rohit can play all the roles as a batter. His only ever IPL century is against Kolkata at the Eden Gardens.

“I knew that he plays spin very well, he plays fast bowling really well and he can attack and dominate whenever he wants irrespective of what the conditions are. He has given us a lot of nightmares,” Gambhir added.
